If you have something to sell, which you do, you need to find people to sell it to.

Either you have your own list of people, or you can borrow someone else’s list. The biggest lists are those of the big internet and social media companies.

In the past week, two of them have announced some changes to their internet marketing services.

To start with, LinkedIn has just introduced “lead generation” campaigns for advertisers. Facebook has had a similar capability for a while. These kinds of ads allow you to collect people immediately onto your own list, as Tamar Weinberg reports for Marketing Land.

Secondly, Reddit has redesigned its self-serve ad platform. Not only does it look better, but it also includes extra features to make your ads more effective, as Tamar Weinberg also reports for Marketing Land.

Of course, this means you have to pay, but there’s a simple solution to that.

Instead of distributing your internet marketing to users of LinkedIn and Reddit (or any other large platform), you should distribute it to your own list.

Not only do you have control over the context of your marketing, but you also save money by not having to repeatedly pay to reach people.

When you have your own list, instead of paying to reach other people’s list, you turn your marketing from a liability into an asset. Click here to find out how we can help you with this.

Internet marketing podcast ends after 6 years

Freedom Ocean was a podcast that James Schramko and Tim Reid hosted from 2011 until now. On the show, they would discuss internet marketing mainly for beginners.

There was a lot of useful information covered in the early years. However, the episodes became very infrequent when James and Tim realized that their audience had outgrown the show.

They just announced that it’s time for the show to come to an end, and they discuss why in the 84th and last episode.

YouTube TV launches

YouTube is the world’s second biggest website and that’s why it’s a great way to distribute your marketing using video.

As YouTube grows up, it’s looking to attract more of the mass market and bigger advertisers.

This week, YouTube TV launched in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco Bay Area, Chicago, and Philadelphia. It is $35 a month and includes live streaming from the mainstream media.

Landing pages of the month

Leadpages is a landing page builder that provides responsive templates that are proven to convert. It quickly became the market leader and is a trusted part of the marketing stack.

Daphne Sidor of the Leadpages team put together a round-up that highlights some of the best landing pages that Leadpages customers have created during March 2017. She also dissects and explains why they work.

Quotation of the Day

“I think we’ve found our episodes slowed down a bit because I think we moved past our market.”

– James Schramko, host of Freedom Ocean
